Bad News For Your Bank Account After Maxine Waters Gets Her Way

Published

on

Tighten your belts… House Financial Services Committee ranking member Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) is about to be very bad news for the banking industry. If she becomes the chairwoman of the powerful committee she will do her level best to regulate banks into oblivion. Except of course for those that benefit her husband’s investments.

With the Republicans in control of the Senate and Trump in the White House, her loony bills on regulation are unlikely to pass. But there will probably be no further deregulation either. She will use her subpoena and investigatory powers to the hilt. Waters will obstruct and try and hurt President Trump in any way possible. More from The Washington Times on this:

NEW YORK (AP) – Come January, the banking industry is going to be on Rep. Maxine Waters‘ time.

With Democrats taking control of the House of Representatives, the California Democrat is expected to become chairwoman of the powerful House Financial Services Committee, which oversees the nation’s banking system and its regulators.

Waters is no friend to the nation’s biggest banks and Wall Street and has been a vocal critic of President Trump and his administration. She has called for more regulation of banks and has opposed Trump’s political appointees moving to roll back regulations on banks and other financial services companies.

With a Republican-controlled Senate and Trump in the White House, it is unlikely Waters‘ proposed regulations on banks will make it into law. However, it’s also much less likely that any new deregulatory bills get through, either.

Where Waters will likely have the most power will be in her subpoena and investigatory powers that come as head of the committee.

One particular target for Waters will likely be the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Since Republicans took over the watchdog agency last year, the CFPB has made many about-faces on rules and regulations that it wrote under President Barack Obama.

The CFPB has not faced much Congressional oversight since Mick Mulvaney, President Trump’s budget director and acting director of the CFPB took over. Trump has nominated Kathy Kraninger, who worked under Mulvaney in the Office of Management and Budget, to be the next permanent director of the Bureau. If she is confirmed, which is likely since Republicans currently have a majority in the Senate and extended their gains in Tuesday’s election, any moves she and the Bureau make will likely come under increased scrutiny of Maxine’s committee.

Banks and their executives also are more likely to be called to testify in front of Congress. Democrats have been increasingly vocal about bringing scandal-plagued Wells Fargo in front of Congress again to discuss some of the bank’s more recent missteps.

There’s also likely to be more scrutiny of Deutsche Bank, which has been the primary financier of President Trump’s business entities since before he became president.

Facebook Censors Yet ANOTHER Christian Page- Not Allowed To Have Conservative View

Peter LaBarbera being arrested for speaking about homosexuality

Peter LaBarbera has run the non-profit Americans for Truth about Homosexuality for more than two decades, helping Christians stand against the LGBTQ+ agenda.

He features articles that show how school boards, such as in Fairfax County, Virginia, believe boys and girls “have different brains – except in the bathroom.” He showed how Democrats have embraced “anti-Christian bully Dan Savage in political campaigns.”

So what do social-media companies that support gay rights, such as Twitter, think of his views?

Twitter, LaBarbera said, locked him out after he wrote of the biblical viewpoint that homosexual sodomy is a “sin.”

He was forced to censor his speech to regain access, he said.

LaBarbera had said in a statement addressed to a homosexual activist: “Why don’t U strive for lifetime abstinence? Sodomy is a sin & the homo’l variety especially spreads disease.”

Twitter’s response was: “You may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, disability, or serious disease.”

Then the next shoe dropped.

Over the weekend, he said, Facebook unpublished his page.

“Hey everybody,” he told friends, “after several bans for posts they don’t like the AFTAH page on facebook, they unpublished it. I selected the repeal option, but they have been relentless attack[ing] this page for years now. Any ideas?”

He said it’s evidence Facebook routinely censors socially conservative viewpoints “while claiming they don’t.”

It even seems the attacks are escalating, he said, citing several earlier disputes with Facebook.

He said one of the more egregious episodes was when an activist demanded the website be shut down because it used a police mug shot of an arrest, claiming image was copyrighted.

LaBarbera also recalled getting in trouble for describing a homosexual festival as satanic.

Facebook in recent months has defended itself against security breaches, accusations that it inflated ad watching times, fired an executive for supporting Trump, and censored conservative and Christian voices.

Whoopi Starts Screaming At Trump Says He Needs To “Shut Up” – TOO BAD!

Monday on ABC’s “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg criticized President Donald Trump for his comments about the California wildfires.

In a video clip from his California weekend visit, Trump said, “I was with the president of Finland and he said we’re a forest nation. He called it a forest nation. And they spend a lot of time on raking and cleaning and doing things and they don’t have any problem and when it is, it’s a very small problem.”

Goldberg said, “Actually, as you probably know, Finland has a very different atmosphere. They get rain periodically. California, it doesn’t rain much so raking really isn’t going to help. You know, just being realistic. And the Finnish president said he never suggested raking, you know. I don’t know why the new guy just won’t acknowledge that if you don’t have any rain, raking everything out is fine but if everything’s is dry someone drops a cigarette or someone lights the fire or, you know, some spark happens, stuff’s going to burn. Raking it is not going to really help. So I would like him to stop with this raking stuff.”

Co-host Joy Behar said, “When did he become an expert on forest fires? Who is he, Smokey the Bear all of a sudden?”

Co-host Sunny Hostin said, “It’s amazing, I have some really good friends that are from Finland and the Fins are having such a ball with this. There are memes online with them vacuuming the forest. My friend is sending me all this stuff but in a sense, we’ve almost become the laughing stock in so many places.”

She added, “And it’s just so embarrassing because if you know anything about Finland, it rains like half the year. It’s really cold.”

Goldberg said, “What I need him to do is shut up. And I try not to be, you know, I try not to be too rude, but you know what, people lost their lives. Families lost their homes. This is not a joke. Raking? I’m sorry. Raking is not funny to people in California. This is not cute, you know, this idea. And if you don’t know this, if you really don’t know this, man, everybody needs to start rethinking what you’re saying and how you’re saying it because you sure don’t give a damn about the people in California.”

She added, “I just want him to stop talking in California. People are dying. People died. People lost everything. Listen, if you’re not going to help stay home.”
