Now, this is the true meaning of loyalty. The two secret service agents who have protected former first lady Barbara Bush for the last two decades after leaving the White House in 1993 refused to leave the coffin of the woman they say treated them like family.
The two agents took turns standing next to the first lady’s coffin at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston as Texas mourners piled in in droves to pay their final respects to the former first lady of the United States.
They stood the whole time in the background as fans were greeted by former President George H.W. Bush in his wheelchair. They gave one final act of protection to the first lady and didn’t leave her site until the 92-year-old was laid to rest at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library alongside Robin Bush who died of childhood leukemia at the age of 3 in 1954.
Via the Daily Mail:
“In a touching tribute to the former First Lady on Friday, written by former agent Jonathan Wackrow for CNN, he said of the name: ‘It exemplified her demeanor and its calming, humanizing and gentle effect on those around her.
‘She will be forever missed.’
Wackrow nostalgically described two heartwarming moments with Barbara which he said inspired him to continue to serve the ‘sacred institution’ of the First Lady for years to come.
The first was when he had just finished an overnight shift at the Bush summer residence in Maine.
‘In my world, it was better to be unseen, but in this instant, I was in the former first lady’s full view with nowhere to hide.
‘Mrs. Bush gave me the warmest smile and said, “Well, it is good morning for me, but it looks like you have been up all night, so I will wish you a good night’s sleep.” Stunned, I thanked her.’
The second was after she had left the White House and during a trip to New Jersey.
Once they had exited New York City and were in the Garden State, a large, loud, siren-screaming police escort joined their unassuming motorcade.
Wackrow wrote: ‘Typically, this was not the way that the former first lady liked to travel, as it drew undue attention. However, in this instance — with her husband’s presidency behind her — she was thrilled.
‘Taking a quick glance in the rear-view mirror, I could see an amazing smile illuminating her face as she turned to her staff in the back seat, exclaiming, “They remember me! We have not had this much excitement since the White House!”
Before going back to New York City, he explained, Barbara got out of the car to thank all of the officers for giving her ‘such a warm welcome to New Jersey’.
‘I will never forget the image of Mrs. Bush shaking hands with the officers.
‘It was a genuine moment of sincerity and unguarded kindness delivered out of the public eye, which, to me, defined this great woman,’ he said.”
What a beautiful display of loyalty from people who are only there to protect. And what a difference this display is to what came after when the Clinton’s took over the White House.
“During an interview on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” a former secret service agent, who also worked for Hillary Clinton, stated that both Hillary and Bill were “not genuine people,” and made up “the most destructive force in American politics in the last 50 years.”
Dan Bongino said he can describe the Clintons better than anyone else who worked with them.
“They have absolutely decimated Americans’ faith in government by everything they have done,” Bongino stated implying that Democrats should separate themselves from the Clintons.
Bongino said Hillary was “the most deceptive human being, manipulative, political person in a position of power” he ever met.
“It wasn’t so much that she was a liar. It was that she did it, and she deceived and manipulated with such ease,” Bongino stated.
He noted that isn’t his style to issue such denunciations, but he had to make an exception for Hillary:
“I never attacked President Obama personally and never would. I disagreed with his politics, but he was very genuine and nice to me personally, Mrs. Clinton is a fraud. If the people out there knew the Mrs. Clinton I knew, they would have a far different take.”
Bongino also criticized Hillary’s post-election tour as “a disgrace” and a way to “upend” the 2016 election. “It’s a disgrace to herself and the American people who picked someone other than her,” he said.”
How did we go from a family so great as the Bush family to a family so “faulty” as the Clintons in only one election?
We went from a First Lady who was loved till the end by her Secret Service detail to someone who the Secret Service despised. To the point where one agent has even gone public with information against Hillary Clinton. Maybe it’s time we all start to realize that putting in people with questionable backgrounds like the Clintons just isn’t a great idea for our nation and the world.
But this is for certain, no one will ever be able to erase the fact that we had someone as classy and dignified as Barbara Bush as our First Lady!
