Democrats Desperately Need ONE Swing Vote – They Just Learned Their Fate

Published

on

In the thick of the Brett Kavanagh whirlwind of reporting and commentary, Young Conservatives’ Nick Arama contributes some information of which you may not be aware; something that hasn’t gotten as much attention as it probably deserves:

“There are swing Republican votes in the Kavanaugh debate, but there are also swing Democratic votes.”

Possible iffy GOP holdouts have garnered the lion’s share of focus – Merkowsky, Collins, Flake – but at least a smattering of Dem Senators have given the impression they might support Kavanaugh’s nomination in the crunch.

“And”, writes Arama, “one of those potential swing Democrats just gave a very revealing statement.”

Then, from the Daily Wire:

“Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), another potential swing vote in the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation, strongly signaled a “Yes” vote on Wednesday … .”

“According to Manchin, he will base his vote on Kavanaugh’s life from age 22-53, not his life in high school, which Democrats have increasingly scrutinized … .”

“ ‘I am looking at the gentleman as an adult from 22 to 53, thirty-one years of professional service,” Manchin told Al-Jazeera. “I am looking at him as a father. As a person in a community, how he interacts with his community. I am trying to put the human side to it.’ ”

Well, that’s a knee-knockingly sensible way to see things. (Haven’t seen boatloads of that from the Democratic caucus for quite a while now, have we?) Good for the Senator from West Virginia!

“Now, while that’s not a definitive,” cautions Arama, “… it does suggest he’s not going to be influenced by things before then.”

News is Manchin was “politely” flooded with input from his home state constituents urging him to pull the “Yes” lever on President Trump’s Supreme Court pick.

“They would not be happy with him if he voted “no” as Kavanaugh is supported in West Virginia by 58%.”

“Prior to the sexual allegations, Manchin had been looking like a “yes.” Manchin was one of three Democrats who voted to confirm Trump’s first Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch.”

Imagine that! “We the People” letting their elected Honorable know their feelings about an important public matter. Letting him know in big numbers. Doing it respectfully. And having an impact.

I recall a prominent former politician from up in the New England area saying on a radio talk show that when an official hears personally from those who hold the power to keep him in or shoo him out? It does get his attention. She particularly stressed hand-written – or typed out –  and mailed letters (as opposed to email) strike home. Just a few of them would serve the attention-getting purpose, she insisted. If memory serves, she used the term “freak out” to describe the politicians’ reactions. And I’d imagine a face-to-face, firm but civil interaction would be even more compelling for most pols who have an interest in keeping their post.

“Manchin has made previous statements saying he would not allow Ford’s allegations to exclude Kavanaugh if they remained unsubstantiated and uncorroborated.”

Well, after completion of this SEVENTH FBI inquiry into the misty long-ago of the fifty-three-year-old Appeals Court judge, corroboration remains blindingly lacking for the most scurrilous accusations levelled against him. So, I guess we should count on a thumbs-up for Brett Kavanaugh from the Mountain State’s second term Senator and former governor?

And the good news keeps comin’: “And now”, adds Arama,   “more indication [Arizona’s Senator Jeff] Flake may be a yes.”

I’m assuming Flake has been hearing cascadingly from pro-Kavanaugh Americans so, if that last statement about him proves trustworthy we’ll have seen a demonstration of a heartening dynamic: Wild and tumultuous opposition from the Left rattling a Senator (Flake looked like he might throw in with the Dem opposition after a pair of progressive anti-Kavanaugh firebrands cornered him in an elevator) only to be neutralized by clear-thinking, fair-minded folk making known their minds to their wobbling Senator.

Once more: notwithstanding the hopelessness too often stoked by cut-throat Leftists and woe-is-me Republicans, when God-and-Country-Loving people get involved in the civic churn? It can make a practical and meaningful difference.

It’s in that spirit that Arama admonishes, “The GOP has 51 senators, Democrats have 49. But they may be missing [a] GOP Senator if the vote goes on Saturday because Steve Daines of Montana has his daughter’s wedding on that date and can’t be there. So keep contacting Manchin and all the swing senators to encourage them to vote to confirm.”

Thing is, right now it looks like those who revere the Constitution and America’s founding principles are gaining the edge in this Kavanaugh clash. Of course, it’s still possible to get smug, get distracted, lose that edge, let our efforts falter – and days from now find ourselves stunned, scratching our noggins and wondering bewilderingly, “Howcum Manchin and Flake ended up dropping the ball on Kavanaugh?”

Sometimes our elected leaders blow it, because those they are allegedly representing blow it themselves.

Somali Whose Deportation was Thwarted by Passengers Is Gang Rapist With Links To ISIS

I have no understanding of people who would allow foreigners needs to take precedence over their own citizens.

These deranged SJW lunatics should have been arrested. When does the left not ever defend a terrorist?

From Breitbart:

A Somali man whose deportation was thwarted when passengers on the aeroplane taking him out of the country began complaining is a convicted gang rapist linked to an Islamic State fighter.
29-year-old Yaqub Ahmed was about to be returned to Somalia via a commercial flight to Istanbul, Turkey, but around a dozen ‘social justice warrior’ passengers on the aeroplane became aware of his situation when he began groaning and wailing.

They started complaining “They’re separating him from his family” and chanting “take him off the plane” in rowdy scenes recorded by several people on their mobile phones.

Rather than throw off the disruptive passengers or have them arrested for obstructing the course of justice, however, officials buckled to the mutinous flyers and took Ahmed off the flight, while his supporters applauded and shouted: “You’re free, man!”

However, the Mail on Sunday has now revealed that the busybodies were championing a convicted gang rapist, and that one of his accomplices travelled to the Islamic State to fight as a jihadist after their crime.

In August 2007, Ahmed was part of a four-strong rape gang which lured a 16-year-old girl who had become separated from her friends on a night out to a flat in Crouch End, North London, pretending they were waiting for her there.

Ahmed and his accomplices then took turn raping the teenager, who was only saved when neighbours overheard her cries for help and rang the police. All denied the crime, but were convicted with the help of extensive DNA evidence.

The judge sentenced them to a relatively short nine years each — although police detective Emma Bird seemed happy with the terms, saying they “reflect[ed] the seriousness of this offence” — but criminals almost never serve their full term in the United Kingdom, and Ahmed was out after a paltry four years.

It is understood that fellow rapist Ondogo Ahmed travelled to Syria to fight for the Islamic State just months after his release, while accomplice Adnan Mohamud — like Ahmed, a Somali granted refugee status — is still in Britain.

“We need to deport these people and members of the public should not be allowed to obstruct the proper course of justice,” commented Tory backbencher Philip Hollobone.

“Officials accompanying the deportee need to react appropriately to passengers who do not know what is going on. To simply walk off in the face of passenger confusion is not good enough.”

Britain’s record both tracking and deporting illegal migrants in general is very poor.

Democratic Aide Arrested, Charged In Major Scandal Before The Midterms

Democrats are in a fight for their life and getting incredibly desperate as we get closer to the midterm elections. They are seething to regain control and apparently will stop at no illegal activity to get it, way beyond their standard practice of voter fraud.

They may think that they are above the law, but are finding out that justice is still a very real “thing” that applies to them.

One Democratic aide has been arrested now for the imminent danger he put GOP Senators and their families in.

The Washington Post reports:

U.S. Capitol Police announced late Wednesday that a former junior Senate Democratic staffer has been arrested for allegedly posting private information about Republican senators on the Wikipedia Internet website.

Jackson A. Cosko, 27, of the District, faces five federal counts including making public restricted personal information, making threats in interstate communications, identity theft, witness tampering and unauthorized access of a government computer, police said.

Cosko also faces District charges of second degree burglary and unlawful entry, police said. He is set to appear before U.S. Magistrate Deborah A. Robinson of the District on Thursday afternoon, the U.S. attorney’s office for the District said.

“The investigation will continue and additional charges may be forthcoming,” Capitol Police spokeswoman Eva Malecki said.

Cosko could not immediately be reached for comment.

A brief police statement did not give details, but a U.S. official said the arrest was tied to the investigation into the posting of personal information about Republican senators on the Wikipedia site as they held a hearing Sept. 27 on sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh.

At the time, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) rejected accusations that a member of her staff was responsible, calling them “lies, lies, and more despicable lies.”

The information posted purportedly included phone numbers and home addresses for three Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee at the hearing: Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (S.C.), Sen. Mike Lee (Utah) and Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (Utah).

They were doxed — or had private or identifying information made public on the internet — when an anonymous Wikipedia user edited their pages. The information was quickly removed after the doxing was discovered and aides contacted authorities.

Edits to the online encyclopedia were traced to IP addresses of computer devices assigned to the U.S. Capitol. Waters in her statement last week said Capitol Police and internal computer specialists determined that an IP address cited online did not belong to her office or anyone on her staff.

According to the Legistorm website of congressional disclosures, Cosko was employed as a low-level aide from January 2017 to May 2018 with the office of U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), and earlier with former senator Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.).

Hassan spokesman Aaron Jacobs said he could not comment on an ongoing investigation.

Cosko was paid $23,000 over six months ending March 31, according to Legistorm.

A LinkedIn website to a Jackson Cosko lists work from Jan. 2016 to May 2018 as an intern, press assistant and legislative correspondent/systems administrator assisting senior Senate staff on matters before the commerce and homeland security committees, including cyber security issues.

It could not be immediately determined if Cosko had any past connection to Waters’ office. The office did not immediately respond to a request for comment late Wednesday.
