Florida Dem Contender Andrew Gillum Just Hit With Bad News From The FBI

Published

on

It seems like the race peddling Democrat Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum has now found himself in a heap of trouble.

Especially after the Florida Ethics Commission issued subpoenas while investigating Gilliam’s interactions with various undercover FBI agents and questionable travel expenses.

Here is more on this via The Federalist Papers:

The Florida Ethics Commission has just issued new subpoenas as it investigates Gilliam’s interactions with undercover FBI agents and his travel expenses, Newsmax reported.

With most polls showing Democrat Gillum nursing a slight lead over Republican Ron DeSantis, Gillum seems intent on evading questions and running out the clock until next Tuesday’s election.

According to the state Division of Elections, some 3 million Floridians have already cast ballots in early voting.

“Let me be very clear about what the record is,” Gillum declared during the gubernatorial debate on Oct. 21. “I am not under FBI investigation, and neither is my city government. What we have done is, we have welcomed them in. If there is someone who has done something wrong, they ought to be held fully accountable for their actions.”

Republican Ron DeSantis shot back: “When I worked with the FBI, I was doing it as a prosecutor to bring people to justice. When Andrew is dealing with the FBI, he’s dealing with an undercover agent as a person of interest in an investigation.”

That’s a reference to a federal corruption investigation been underway in Tallahassee for about three years. The probe apparently focuses on political influence and Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) deals that took place in the city.

Adam Corey, a longtime Gillum friend and lobbyist, introduced him to three men who represented themselves as businessmen interested in developing Tallahassee — but they were actually undercover FBI agents. The agents had plenty of cash, and provided Gillum and a companion with $1,000 tickets to the Broadway musical “Hamilton.”

Also, an undercover agent who went by the name of Mike Miller was invoiced for the $4,386 food and bar tab at a $5,000-per-plate fundraiser to raise money for Gillum’s political action committee. That bill was apparently paid by the agent.

Throughout the corruption scandal, Gillum has insisted that the FBI has assured him he is not the focus of its investigation.

In an exclusive interview, former FBI Assistant Director Ron Hosko tells Newsmax that without addressing the specifics of the corruption probe in Tallahassee, subjects rarely know the scope of an investigation prior to grand jury indictments.

“Generally speaking,” Hosko tells Newsmax, “you’ll find out you are the focus of the probe when you have handcuffs on you or when an indictment is returned by the grand jury and you get to read the charges.

“Before that point, it’s not as though the government has an obligation to go out and tell people who were not the focus of the probe, ‘Hey, we weren’t looking at you.’

“Now, maybe there’s some reason why he knows that,” Hosko speculates. Still, Hosko says cases can always change based the information the FBI develops.

“As they start to conduct an investigation,” he says, “they’re always looking for, ‘Is there a need to expand the investigation? Do we expand to additional subjects?’”

And as he insists that the investigation is not about him, the facts do no bear out his assertions.

The Costa Rica Trip — The mayor’s chief of staff, Jamie Van Pelt, told the Tallahassee Democrat that Gillum’s weeklong visit to a $1,400-per-night resort in Costa Rica with lobbyists was purely a vacation and did not involve official business.

But emails obtained by the Democrat show that during that vacation Corey, who served in a voluntary capacity as the treasurer of Gillum’s mayoral campaign, sent Gillum a calendar invitation to a May 16 meeting with Gillum and Miller, the undercover agent.

Common Cause Florida board member Pete Butzin told the Democrat, “The mayor seems totally oblivious to even the appearance of a conflict of interest. He’s got to understand this thing is going to come back and bite him.”

“Hamilton” Trip — Florida Commission on Ethics is looking into Gillum’s acceptance of an expensive ticket to see the Broadway musical “Hamilton.” Gillum was reportedly in New York City in a business capacity for his former employer, the left-leaning People for the American Way organization.

The reason the $1,000 tickets have drawn the attention of state ethics investigators: Officials are not permitted to receive any gift valued at over $100 from someone doing business with their city.

Trump About To Prosecute Clinton & Comey – Here’s Who SQUASHED It Last Second

As the most reliable and balanced news aggregation service in the world, RWN offers the following information published by Washington Times:

President Trump reportedly told his then White House counsel this spring that he wanted the Justice Department to prosecute 2016 presidential opponent Hillary Clinton and former FBI director James Comey.

Citing “two people familiar with the conversation,” the New York Times reported Tuesday that counsel Don McGahn flatly told the president that he didn’t have the power to do that and that even the one thing that could be done — request an investigation — would risk ending his presidency.

“To underscore his point, Mr. McGahn had White House lawyers write a memo for Mr. Trump warning that if he asked law enforcement to investigate his rivals, he could face a range of consequences, including possible impeachment,” the Times wrote.

Though the Times called the reported conversation “one of the most blatant examples yet” of Mr. Trump seeing the Justice Department as a political tool, there was no evidence that Mr. Trump’s musings to Mr. McGahn went beyond that.

It is also unknown whether the president ever read Mr. McGahn’s memo, though the Times reported that “according to two people who have spoken to Mr. Trump about the issue,” he has continued to discuss the possibility of a second special prosecutor to investigate Mrs. Clinton, whom he frequently said during the campaign should be imprisoned for her email practices, and Mr. Comey, whom he fired.

Mr. McGahn left the White House earlier this fall.

Both a White House spokesman and an FBI spokeswoman declined to comment to the Times.

As the most reliable and balanced news aggregation service in the world, RWN offers the following information published by Chicks On The Right:

Holy CRAP.

This is some PEAK Trump Derangement Syndrome, folks.

I mean… what planet do these nutjobs even LIVE ON?!

Actress Amber Tamblyn of “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” recently revealed that on the night Hillary lost, she went into a panic attack imagining she would have to give her unborn child up for adoption to Canadians or some ridiculous crap.

I’m not even exaggerating here.

As the night wore on and it became clear that Clinton was facing a steep challenge to the presidency, “I swigged some more Zantac, and my baby shoved her foot into my ribs, as if to foreshadow the pain that was yet to come,” Tamblyn read. Her line “Katy Perry anxiously chewed on a celery stick” drew some laughs. When Clinton’s director of strategic communications informed Javits Center attendees that Clinton would not be speaking, Tamblyn came to a grim conclusion: “A dark realization swallowed me: I was going to bring a baby into this world. And not just any baby: a girl.” Tamblyn recalled imagining if she should give her baby away to Canadians or Swedes.

I’m sorry… but if things REALLY were so bad, wouldn’t you go away WITH your baby? You’d really just hand your baby over to someone?

This is so freaking INSAAANE.

I mean – WTF?! Did any of you ever consider giving up your children because of Obama? No? Yeah. Didn’t think so.

The Hollywood Reporter has more on this story:

Tamblyn, the final reader of the afternoon, shared an essay about the 2016 Election Night from her upcoming release Era of Ignition. The essay recalled 2016’s presidential election night, which Tamblyn spent with Ferrera and comedian Amy Schumer in New York’s Javits Center while several months pregnant. She and her friends wore matching white pantsuits to signal their support of Clinton, “looking like the cast of some new primetime medical drama,” Tamblyn joked.

And not just any baby: a girl.” Tamblyn recalled imagining if she should give her baby away to Canadians or Swedes.

At a subway station the following day, Tamblyn read, she began experiencing pain and shortness of breath, which caused her collapse on the stairs. She recalled a “homeless man” saying, “Oh shit, it’s going down!” and offering to cut her umbilical cord with beard scissors if she went into labor. Ultimately, Tamblyn learned she was just having a panic attack.

“’How can I keep her safe?’” Tamblyn recalled asking her doctor on a visit about the attack.

“You can’t, but you can keep her close,” her doctor responded, before suggesting that she listen to a one-minute recording every day to remind her of the tenacity of love. Tamblyn ended her set by playing the recording for the audience: a one-minute record of her baby’s heartbeat.

The 2018 Vulture Fest in Los Angeles, which this year features speakers including the Dirty John cast, Constance Wu, Nick Kroll, Fred Armisen and others, concluded Sunday.
