A traffic sign at the base of the Pulaski Bridge in Greenpoint briefly joined The Resistance. Is it a sign of the times or simply par for the course for the northernmost borough in Brooklyn? Someone rearranged a giant Department of Transportation light up billboard the New York City borough to say “F-ck Trump” and the message remained unchanged for more than twelve hours.
The sign was located at the foot of the Pulaski Bridge and had been there for approximately a week to warn travelers of bridge closures. But on Thursday? It had a much different message to share.

According to the Department of Transportation’s website, the Pulaski Bridge is closed to vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists until September 7, “to facilitate NYCDOT Bridges pedestrian and bicycle improvements.”
A DOT spokesperson stated the sign does not belong to the agency and is the responsibility of the contractor who owns it. Yet one New Yorker snapped a photo of what appears to be a city official tinkering with the back of the errant billboard.
“A DOT guy is trying to turn it off,” wrote @newyorks—ty on Twitter. “He says he doesn’t know how. Lol”
The sign’s new message was posted just a day after President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, was convicted of eight counts of bank and tax fraud, though a mistrial was declared on the remaining 10 charges. Former Trump personal attorney Michael Cohen also pled guilty to five counts of tax evasion and one count of making a false statement to a financial institution.
Cohen also pled guilty to one count of making an excessive campaign contribution. The contribution occurred on Oct. 27, 2016 — the same day Cohen finalized a payment to adult film-star Stormy Daniels as part of a nondisclosure agreement over an affair she claims she had with Trump many years prior to his presidency or life in politics.
According to the New York Post reactions to the sign were varied –
“I thought this was pretty funny. These signs are normally used for direction or order,” said Andrew Rappa, 24, of Greenpoint. “It’s a result of everything that’s been happening in our government.”
Marek Jablonski of Ridgewood, Queens, said that he voted for Trump, but the tax-fraud conviction of former campaign manager Paul Manafort and longtime fixer Michael Cohen’s copping to campaign finance felonies this week were the last straw — and that Trump has lost his support.
“There are no kings left,” he said, lamenting the lack of honor among members of the administration.
Another gawker balked at the display.
“If you hate him, fine — that’s your personal opinion — but that’s taking it to the extreme,” a Woodside, Queens, resident who gave his name as Anthony said of the sign. “Even though [Trump] does terrible things, it’s against the law.”
The sign was tampered with Wednesday night, according to a DOT rep, who said at it was fixed by 3 p.m. Thursday but denied any responsibility.
“This sign belongs to a contractor and was addressed,” said spokesman Scott Gastel. “It’s the contractor’s responsibility to maintain those, including repairs and clarifications.”
The hacked sign seems to be par for the course for so-called Resistance action. Just a month ago President Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was destroyed by a man wielding a pickaxe. This also comes as members of the Trump administration have seen a steady increase in incidents where they have been accosted at restaurants, heckled in the street, and threatened at their homes.
Many of these incidents have caused a widespread public debate over the tenor of political discourse with some calling for a return to civility and yet others attempting to justify even more violent action against those with whom they disagree. Critics argued that accosting public officials in public to threaten or heckled were destructive and served to amplify division and political tensions. Yet proponents of the public protests, such as Rep. Maxine Waters (CA-D) have previously argued that the egregious nature of the Trump administration’s immigration policies justified the harassment.
A Republican congressional candidate body slams a reporter. A Democratic party state chairman hurls obscenities at both the president and dissidents in his own party at a public meeting.
Speakers are chased off college campuses by those who disagree with them. Lawmakers in both parties find they can barely hold town hall meetings in their own districts because they are so likely to be shouted down by hecklers. Social media has become a forum where insults are the norm and outright threats not uncommon.
How does one return to civility when it seems that the world is growing increasingly uncivil?

Tragic Death Leads To Country Music Star Canceling CMA Awards Appearance
Sometimes, fate comes knocking when we least expect it. That happened to country singer Kenny Chesney last night at the 52nd annual Country Music Association Awards (CMA Awards). An unexpected death in his family kept him away although he was nominated for “Entertainer Of The Year” and “Musical Event Of The Year.”
No details are available at this time on who the family member is. Chesney did not speak about what happened on Twitter either. Keith Urban took home the Entertainer Of The Year award. But I’m sure the thoughts and prayers of the thousands viewing the awards were with Chesney in his hour of grieving and need. The Daily Caller has more on this sad news and the music awards:
The 52nd annual Country Music Association Awards (CMA Awards) took place Wednesday night, but one huge singer was notably absent from the festivities.
Kenny Chesney, 50, was nowhere to be found.
The “American Kids” singer, who was up for the “Entertainer Of The Year” and “Musical Event Of The Year” (for “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright”) awards, skipped the show due to a sudden death in the family. No further details about the tragedy are available at this time.
Ahead of the glitzy event, the Country Music Association Twitter account informed its over 750,000 followers that Chesney would not be in attendance.
CMA Musical Event of the Year winner & Entertainer of the Year nominee @KennyChesney will be unable to appear on tonight's telecast due to a death in the family.

Chesney did not address the news on his personal Twitter account, but he did thank his co-performer David Lee Murphy for his hard work on “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright,” which took home the Musical Event Of The Year award.
Sometimes you hear songs & they just feel good. Occasionally one that feels good says something that people need to hear. That’s how I felt about Everything’s Gonna Be Alright when I heard it. Alyssa Milano Angers Unhinged Libs For Turning Her Back On Their HERO Avenatti
Alyssa Milano is one of those Hollywood stars on the way out desperate for attention. She has embraced just about every radical leftist cause out there. But give credit where it is due. Milano was doing the right thing when she vowed never again to speak at the Women’s March because of their anti-Semitic ties. Now, she has made a second good call.
Michael Avenatti, bombastic attorney for porn star Stormy Daniels, was arrested last night for felony domestic violence. He allegedly punched a woman in the face that is not his wife and the left is in meltdown mode over it.
— Amanda Shea (@TheAmandaShea) November 15, 2018
Chicks on the Right has more on Milano’s change of view:
I mentioned a few days ago, when Alyssa Milano vowed never again to speak at the Women’s March because of their anti-Semitic ties, that it may have been the first and only time I would ever give Alyssa Milano any credit for anything.
Michael Avenatti was arrested on felony Domestic Violence charges last night, and Alyssa realized this wasn’t about “sides.” This was about a man allegedly punching a woman in the face.
Michael Avenatti, who became famous for representing Stormy Daniels in her battle with President Trump, has been arrested for felony domestic violence … law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
Our law enforcement sources say Avenatti was arrested Wednesday after a woman filed a felony DV report. We’re told her face was “swollen and bruised” with “red marks” on both cheeks.
It was later confirmed that the victim was NOT his estranged wife – as originally reported.
HOWEVER – It is important to note that this doesn’t mean the incident didn’t HAPPEN. It means it didn’t happen TO HIS WIFE.
Update: We can confirm that Michael Avenatti (DOB: 02-16-71) was booked this afternoon on a felony domestic violence charge (273.5 PC). His bail is set at $50,000.

This was enough for Alyssa:
— Alyssa Milano (@Alyssa_Milano) November 14, 2018
Good on her. This IS NOT about sides.
Avenatti has always been scum. I wouldn’t want anything to do with him in the first place. And she’s EXACTLY right. I would be wary any Republican who found himself in the same situation.
But people are REEEALLY ticked off at Alyssa, because you know… Avenatti was supposed to be our PRESIDENT.
Seriously?? Wow! I’m really surprised by your rush to judgment. Guess he’s not valuable to you anymore? I prefer to wait for facts before publicly disavowing and shaming someone. Might want to delete this tweet and hold tight a bit.
— LAintheOC (@LAintheOC) November 15, 2018
I'm not a fan of Michael Avenatti. And I believe victims should be given the utmost deference.
But I would be a slow to judge on this one. I don't know if Avenatti did it or didn't. But I do know that alt-right trolls have been trying to set-up political figures on the left.
— SwerveForThe Girl (@SfortheG) November 15, 2018
“Believe all women” …or call them alt-right trolls. Whatever.
And listen – I get it – we shouldn’t be quick to assume someone’s guilty of everything they’re ever accused of. But here’s a question: how many of these people stood up for Kavanaugh?
Before anyone judges Mr. Avenatti he deserves the same due process that everyone in America is entitled to. He has been an advocate of protecting immigrant children for FREE. He is the reason Michael Cohen is speaking to Mueller. Trump, Fox, and GOP hate him and this stinks!!
— Elizabeth Holmes (@HolmesTeganimi) November 15, 2018
DUE PROCESS? That’s a new one.
I read it's on SUSPICION of, NOT proven (yet) abuse. Has it changed? I don't want to condemn the guy into I have more facts. I don't like being judge, jury and executioner.
— Avery R. Russell ⚧ ⚨ (@YouEnbyMe) November 14, 2018
Again… what about Kavavanugh? Where were y’all then?
Where are the facts? You know the truth. We don't want another good man discarded as Franken was. Let's wait & see.
— linda may (@lindamayb) November 14, 2018
“A good man.” LOLOLOLOLOLOL.
Also how exactly has he been protecting children other than doing self-serving interviews?
Sorry, Avenatti set the new rules. His career should be over just based on the allegation. Truth is immaterial. He wanted to sink a judge with specious unsubstantiated claims. Not only is he in the same boat he has actually been ARRESTED.
