Rumors Of Sessions’ Resignation Out As His Replacement Causes Shockwaves Through DC

Published

on

As the Mueller investigation continues on seemingly into perpetuity, President Donald Trump’s relationship with Attorney General Jeff Sessions continues to deteriorate. America’s Commander-in-Chief is openly critical of Sessions’ decision to politically pander and recuse himself from the investigation into alleged Russian collusion.

While rumors of Sessions’ tendering his resignation continue to swirl, it is unclear if and when the current AG will step down. It is also unclear if President Trump will even allow Sessions to tender his resignation rather than simply outright firing him.

What is clear is that President Trump is currently floating possible replacements, at least judging by this new Washington Post report. He talked with Sessions’ Chief of Staff Matthew Whitaker about succeeding Sessions to serve as Attorney General, according to sources briefed on the conversation.

The Washington Post reports:

“President Trump talked recently with Jeff Sessions’s own chief of staff about replacing Sessions as attorney general, according to people briefed on the conversation, signaling that the president remains keenly interested in ousting his top law enforcement official.

“The conversation between Trump and Matthew G. Whitaker was somewhat nebulous, the people said. It was not clear, for example, whether Whitaker would take over on an interim basis or be nominated in a more permanent capacity, or how definitive the president’s intentions were.

“On a long list of indignities that Sessions has endured from his boss, Trump’s discussing replacing him with his own top aide stands out. Trump has wanted to fire Sessions ever since he recused himself from what is now the special counsel’s investigation into whether Russia coordinated with the Trump campaign to influence the 2016 election. He has berated his attorney general publicly and privately and recently told Hill.TV, “I don’t have an attorney general.'”

According to journalist Sara Carter, tensions reached a boiling point an interview with Fox and Friend’s Ainsley Earhardt, that Sessions “never took control of the Justice Department.”

President Trump states in the interview:

“All of my people, they’re doing incredibly. But the whole thing with — going on with the Justice and FBI — when you see Strzok and his lover, Lisa Page, when you see Comey with all the lies that he’s told, when you see Mueller with the conflicts. He’s, he’s so conflicted. Comey’s his best friend. He had a really nasty business transaction with me, which he never reported. I’ve been talking about it; he never reports it. I mean, you look at the bad things.”

Sessions issued a written statement in response to the interview stating:

“I took control of the Department of Justice the day I was sworn in, which is why we have had unprecedented success at effectuating the President’s agenda—one that protects the safety and security and rights of the American people, reduces violent crime, enforces our immigration laws, promotes economic growth, and advances religious liberty.”

Meanwhile, Law & Crime notes a possible Whittaker nomination, stating it “wouldn’t be entirely surprising. He served as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa from 2004 to 2009.

Something to keep in mind is a 2017 CNN op-ed published before Whitaker rejoined the DOJ. He agreed with the president’s claim that Special Counsel Robert Mueller would be going too far by investigating Trump family finances.

“It does not take a lawyer or even a former federal prosecutor like myself to conclude that investigating Donald Trump’s finances or his family’s finances falls completely outside of the realm of his 2016 campaign and allegations that the campaign coordinated with the Russian government or anyone else,” Whitaker wrote. “That goes beyond the scope of the appointment of the special counsel.”

It wouldn’t be the first time a chief of staff was chosen to succeed a cabinet position. John Kelly‘s right-hand woman Kirstjen Nielsen was tapped to replace him as Department of Homeland Security secretary.

As for Whitaker, White House officials are said to have previously looked at him to possibly replace Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, whose job security was, uh, called into question a little while ago.

In this case, Solicitor General Noel Francisco would have been the one to take over the Russia probe. That probe had fallen into Rosenstein’s lap after Sessions recused himself, citing previously undisclosed contacts with Russia’s then-ambassador to the United States.

Trump has railed about his AG’s decision for a while now, and often ridicules him on Twitter and in the press.

After years of saying he would never run for any political office, radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh is now open to the possibility, even if it’s the White House.

“I’m not flat-out saying no,” Limbaugh said in the final moments of his Wednesday broadcast when a caller urged him to seek the presidency once President Donald Trump has completed his service to the nation.

“I am deeply flattered,” Limbaugh said of the suggestion. “Before Trump, it would not have been possible.”

Limbaugh was acknowledging that Trump has pushed back so well against his political opponents, including the media, it has opened the door for a conservative such as himself to consider the idea.

“I’ve been speaking 15 hours a week for 30 years,” Limbaugh, noting there could be plenty of fodder for opposition research that could be used against him, such as his use of the word “Feminazi” to describe militant feminists.

Limbaugh said most members of the media don’t even try to understand who Trump is or why people support him.

“They’re still on this quest to kill Trump as a human being … that he’s absolute human debris and has no business being alive.”

He said the media had little understanding or respect for their viewers, who happen to vote.

“All they’re doing is thinking you’re stupid and dumb and dangerous,” Limbaugh explained. “It really is a case study in watching these elitists.”

On the eve of Thanksgiving, Limbaugh thanked his audience for making him such a success, saying: “To this day, I am still so appreciative of all of the great things you have made possible for me and my family, and there’s no way of repaying it all.”

“Being an American is a treasure.”

HUGE Sports Star Arrested On Attempted Murder Charge – Allegations Are Extremely Disturbing

As the most reliable and balanced news aggregation service in the world, RWN offers the following information published by: Daily Caller

UFC star Arnold Berdon was arrested and charged with the attempted murder of his wife and fellow fighter, Rachael Ostovich.

Ostovich was hospitalized Sunday after the alleged beating, and now it looks like the police have taken the next step in their criminal investigation.

TMZ reported the following late Tuesday night:

Cops in Honolulu opened a domestic violence investigation earlier this week … and now police officials tell us 27-year-old Arnold Berdon — Ostovich’s husband and father of her child — was arrested Tuesday evening on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder.

Berdon — a fighter himself who holds a 7-2 record — is still in custody at the Honolulu PD main station.

He has not yet appeared before a judge … where bail could be set.

It seemed like this was bound to happen given the reporting TMZ has been doing over these past couple of days. Yesterday, Ostovich got a restraining order until May 18, 2019, and now, her husband has been taken into custody on an extremely serious charge.

According to the same TMZ report, he could get up to life in prison if he’s convicted. The extent of Ostovich’s injuries still aren’t public yet, but it had been reported that there are broken bones in her face.

She also had an Instagram post early Wednesday morning that seemed to appear to be her asking for prayers. All the way around, this is just a terrible situation. Ostovich is a rising star that was supposed to fight Paige VanZant January 19. Obviously, that’s not going to happen anymore.

At this point, she should just hope to get healthy and let the justice system handle everything else.
