Trump Just Cut Pay Raises For 2 Mil Gov’t Workers – Who’s Opposing It Is Absolutely Infuriating

Published

on

Sometimes it feels as if President Trump is the only fiscal adult in the room these days. He’s making the hard decisions when it comes to what should be spent as opposed to what politicos and bureaucrats want to be spent. Chief among those that clamor for money on an on-going basis are the unions.

Trump has helped the unions a great deal through negotiations with companies and countries on their behalf but sometimes it never seems to be enough to make people happy. Give Trump credit, he does it whether he gets heat or not if he thinks the move is warranted.

In light of that stance, Trump just cut pay raises for roughly 1.8 million government workers and they are not happy with him. “In light of our nation’s fiscal situation, federal employee pay must be performance-based,” the president wrote in a Thursday letter to congressional leaders. Trump announced Thursday he was canceling across-the-board pay raises for civilian workers across the federal government, citing the “nation’s fiscal situation.”

Cue the outrage from leftists, unions and the media. It was swift and brutal too.

“We must maintain efforts to put our nation on a fiscally sustainable course, and federal agency budgets cannot sustain such increases,” the president wrote. He’s absolutely right of course but the fury and screeching continue nonetheless. This, by the way, includes the Border Patrol and ICE agents. So, it was not a slap at the left.

It is fiscal responsibility in action and nothing more.

And in the media’s political two-step that threatens the right over any move they don’t sanction, they are pointing out that this makes GOP lawmakers more vulnerable. Especially in northern Virginia that is home to tens of thousands of federal workers. Once again, we are beginning to hear the hysteria that surrounds funding the government with Congress and party leaders in their neverending quest to keep the government running.

Opposing the pay cut is Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA). She is in peril of losing her seat in the House.

She infuriatingly vowed to work to reverse the pay freeze. Politics before principles, right Barb? “We cannot balance the budget on the backs of our federal employees and I will work with my House and Senate colleagues to keep the pay increase in our appropriations measures that we vote on in September,” Comstock penned in a sharply worded statement.

Sadly, she’s not alone either. “Our office opposes this and will be working with other offices next week on this issue,” Rep. Scott Taylor (R-VA), who is also facing a tough reelection, wrote on Twitter.

The Senate has already given the green light this year for a 1.9 percent pay raise for civilian federal employees. But while the Republicans control the Senate by a very small margin, there are a ton of RINOs there that would almost surely side with leftists on this issue.

House Republicans have approved their own spending bill that endorses the White House’s pay freeze. That’s where the spine is politically speaking these days and the House controls the purse strings so we will see how this plays out. If I were Comstock or Taylor, I would not look for backing from Trump after they stand against him on this. Just my two cents.

We don’t need more Republicans like Comstock and Taylor who are more interested in reelection than doing the right thing for America.

If you let your principles and conscience be your guide and not your political aspirations, you tend to do the right thing. Otherwise, you just do whatever the mob who yells loudest wants you to. That is what the swamp does and that is why we need it drained.

According to a years-old government formula, most civilian workers are scheduled to get a 2.1 percent increase. But Trump is right… those increases should be individualized and be based on performance. Otherwise, it smacks of socialism and nothing but a corrupt bureaucracy.

The president would also nix extra pay for federal workers living in more expensive parts of the country, including Washington, DC, where the cost-of-living adjustment amounted to a pay increase of just less than 1 percentage point. This adds up to about $25 billion next fiscal year, according to the White House.

I hate to be cold here, but that’s not the measure that a pay increase should be based solely on. Performance is and Trump is absolutely right here. In fact, I’m for applying this to politicians as well. I can dream, can’t I?

Union leaders came unglued over this. Robert Martinez Jr., president of the Machinists Union International, called it a “slap in the face” for workers. To my ear, that almost sounds communist. “We are approaching a dangerous national security situation when we will be unable to attract the best and brightest to fill important roles within our federal government,” Martinez said in a statement.

Ah, the national security card. That is not appropriate here. The ‘best and brightest’ as he puts it should still undergo rigorous background checks and intense vetting.

They should also be paid according to their skill level and get raises according to their performance, not according to their perceived ‘need’.

Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) and Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) are up in arms over this and they are pushing both chambers to override Trump’s proposal by the deadline. “Congress can and must stand up to the President and reject this assault on our federal workers by passing the 1.9 percent pay raise that the Senate approved on August 1,” Warner said in a statement. Other Dems are lining up on this issue as well.

Anytime their pocketbooks or votes are threatened, Dems are all over it.

From Politico:

“White House administrations typically issue pay orders at the end of August — often with a small raise — to avoid costly automatic pay increases in the absence of a spending bill in place by Oct. 1, said Tim Kauffman, a spokesman for the American Federation of Government Employees.

“Union officials say Congress should avoid that outcome by approving at least the 1.9 percent increase already approved in the Senate.

“Federal employees deserve the full measure of pay comparability provided by the law and a 1.9 percent increase in the minimum that Congress should consider,” American Federation of Government Employees President J. David Cox said in a statement.

“Last year, Congress and the White House agreed to an average pay raise of 1.4 percent for federal civilian workers and 2.1 percent for uniformed service members. This year, members of the military are slated for a 2.6 percent raise — the largest in a decade.

“Under the Obama administration, civilian workers were subjected to multiple years of pay freezes as the federal government weathered the recession. Trump’s move is unexpected, though, in a soaring economy that surged 4.2 percent last quarter.

“It’s the latest example of the Trump administration’s ongoing battle against government employee unions.”

Trump has already signed executive orders that make it easier for managers to fire underperforming federal employees and to order the renegotiation of collective bargaining agreements.

Good… that’s exactly what he should do. A judge struck down key parts of those orders, arguing that Trump exceeded his authority by intentionally seeking to hamstring unions’ ability to negotiate. But I’m betting that ruling will be overturned in a higher court because Trump constitutionally has the power to do exactly what he did in my opinion.

White House Guests KNEEL During National Anthem, Trump Makes Them Immediately Regret It

The Marine Corp band in their bright red uniforms were on the south balcony of the White House on a bright, sunny Tuesday in Washington, DC. The Army Chorus sang, beginning the event with ‘America the Beautiful’ and concluded with ‘God Bless America’. At least two people who were guests at President Trump’s Celebration of America event yesterday knelt, showing exactly why so many Americans are ticked over the National Anthem controversy.

The event replaced a celebration at the White House in honor of the Super Bowl win for the Philadelphia Eagles. These two disrespectful idiots took a knee as the “Star Spangled Banner” rang out across the South Lawn of the White House. Simply disgraceful. These aren’t social justice warriors… these are unpatriotic jerks.

A video was posted to Twitter by a reporter for SVT, the Swedish national public TV broadcaster. It shows a man, wearing a light blue button down, kneeling as the National Anthem played, before clapping and ultimately coming to his feet after the song finished. I guess he thought that was his five minutes of fame or something.

What it really amounted to was making a fool out of himself internationally. President Trump showcases all of these liberal dimwits for what they are… America-hating, radical leftists who are far more interested in hating our brave police officers and our country than they are in respecting America and taking national pride in their country and President.

When President Trump took the podium, he blew his audience away with his love for our country, military, police, flag and the National Anthem. He made every single person who disrespects them like this look like the small, craven liberals that they really are. The man, who did not identify himself, left the event immediately after the United States Marine Band performed the anthem, according to a news anchor for TV2 Denmark. Gee, crawling away with his tail between his legs like the lowly cur he his. Guess he couldn’t stand patriotism after he showed how much he hates his own country.

There was a second man who was pictured kneeling as well. That was posted to Twitter by a CNN White House producer. He was wearing a light blue checkered shirt and had a little American flag. This guy was right up front. He was also apparently the same person who reportedly heckled Trump. That guy was roundly booed by everyone around him. CNN’s analyst April Ryan posted false news on Twitter yesterday claiming people were booing Trump when it was the heckler they went after. She eventually retracted what she said after her own colleagues called her out on the lie. “Stop hiding behind the armed services and the National Anthem,” the guy yelled to a chorus of boos, according to the Daily Mail. “Let’s hear it for the Eagles.” “Go home,” one person shouted at the heckler.

The President didn’t engage the heckler, but looked in his direction and pursed his lips. He looked like he wanted to smack him. Right there with ya.

President Trump disinvited the Philadelphia Eagles to the White House after they at first said they had more than 70 players coming to the People’s House to celebrate. By this week, that number had dropped to less than ten and then to only one player. They kept trying to change the date to one where President Trump would be out of the country. I don’t blame the President in the least for canceling the visit. That was totally appropriate. If you insist on being ungrateful and insulting a sitting President of the United States, then you don’t deserve the honor of going to the White House period.

Trump claimed on Monday that the team disagreed “with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country.” Eagles players denied that accusation, pointing out that no one on the team knelt for the anthem during last season. But that has nothing to do with how each individual on the team states his beliefs and shows his disrespect for President Trump.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders accused the team of a “political stunt” just minutes before Tuesday’s alternative event began, claiming the players had chosen to “abandon their fans.” That’s exactly what they did. “If this wasn’t a political stunt by the Eagles franchise then they wouldn’t have committed to attend the event and then backed out,” she said in her Tuesday press briefing. “And if it wasn’t a political stunt, they wouldn’t have attempted to reschedule the visit while the President was overseas.”

Trump was brief in his remarks and only spoke for about four minutes. He began by explaining why it’s an issue of patriotism for Americans to stand for the National Anthem. “We love our flag and stand for our National Anthem,” Trump said to great applause from the crowd on the South Lawn of the White House. “We stand to honor our military and to honor country and to honor the fallen heroes who never made it back home.” Yes, we do… and those that don’t can take a hike.

Melania Unveils This Year’s White House Christmas Decorations That Libs Are SURE To Hate

Melania Trump’s first year in office was marked by immense criticism of our incredible first lady, who in the eyes of the Trump family’s numerous detractors, Melania could do nothing right, or at least as well as her predecessor, Michelle Obama. This included her full Christmas decor plan, which was stunning in silver and white, and a beautiful modern take on the same tired style that Michelle un-creatively came up with.

This year’s decorations will likely be no different, if not worse.

Last year, liberals claimed she decked the halls in depression and gloom, likening it to looking more like a haunted house than a holiday home. So, what will they say about this year’s new look?

Chicks On The Right reports:

FLOTUS doesn’t just slay on the fashion front. Her decorating skills are off the charts. (Yes, yes– I know she didn’t do this by herself, but if you really believe she didn’t have a say, you’re nuuuuuuuuuuuuts.)

ANYWHO. She finally unveiled this year’s White House Christmas decorations, and they’re GORGEOUS.

You have no idea how much I want to stroll through those halls of beautifully decorated trees. Oh well. I’ll have to settle for the aisles of Hobby Lobby.

It all looks great. I’m obsessed. TY, that is all.
