The government is doing the unthinkable under the Trump administration and it is a very VERY good thing indeed! After growing at a nearly exponential rate under the Bush and Obama administrations, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the leadership of the Trump administration is voluntarily cutting the size of the department.
Less regulation and smaller government is a consistent campaign promise made by President Donald Trump that is coming true…
The EPA is cutting approximately 1,200 jobs as roughly 1,600 employees departed the agency. Less than 400 new employees were hired during President Donald Trump’s first year and a half in office. According to the Washington Post, included among those employees leaving the EPA are “at least 260 scientists, 185 ‘environmental protection specialists’ and 106 engineers.”
WaPo reports, “The exodus has shrunk the agency’s workforce by 8 percent, to levels not seen since the Reagan administration. The trend has continued even after a major round of buyouts last year and despite the fact that the EPA’s budget has remained stable.”
With hundreds of employees accepting buyouts just since last summer, records show that nearly a quarter of the government agency’s remaining 13,758 employees are now at an age where they are considered eligible to retire. At its peak and its most bloated in the late 1990s, the EPA employed more than 18,000 people at the government agency.
Reducing government regulation and especially government agencies are tough. It is consistently and routinely resisted by all those who benefit, including government employees who administer the many programs. Every president since Jimmy Carter has attempted to lower the cost of regulation. At best, any cuts have been tiny and mostly centered on trimming paperwork. But less regulation and a reduction in the size of government itself is one campaign promise made by Donald Trump that is coming true.
“In a statement Friday, Acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler said he was focused on right-sizing the EPA, which Republicans have argued overreached under President Barack Obama, burdening industry with regulations such as those focused on climate change.
With nearly half of our employees eligible to retire in the next five years, my priority is recruiting and maintaining the right staff, the right people for our mission, rather than total full-time employees,” he said as WaPo reported.
The EPA is not alone in shrinking its size under the Trump administration either and this is despite the fact that Congress recently passed a $1.3 trillion budget bill back in March 2018 that boosted both military and domestic spending.
As WaPo revealed, “the State Department’s total number of permanent employees, for instance, fell 6.4 percent between Trump’s inauguration and March 2018, according to federal records, while the Education Department declined 9.4 percent during that time.
Part of the drop stems from a government-wide hiring freeze Trump imposed after his inauguration, which lasted nearly three months. The president has continued to press for a leaner federal payroll, asking Congress recently to withhold pay raises for federal workers in 2019.
The Daily Caller reported that deep and significant budget cuts have been coming down since the 2019 budget was proposed back in February –
“Trump requested a working budget of $5.4 billion for the EPA, which constitutes a nearly $2.8 billion decrease from the 2017 enacted level, according to the White House’s budget proposal. He asked Congress to cut the agency’s budget $2 billion in 2017.
The higher cuts were not surprising. Trump’s Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney recently suggested the president would enact even steeper reductions than he did for the 2018 budget.
“You still are going to see some reductions in our proposals to the EPA,” Mulvaney said in an interview Sunday with “Fox News Sunday.” “There’s still going to be the president’s priorities as we seek to spend the money consistently with our priorities, not with the priorities that were reflected most by the Democrats in Congress.”
The budget, which was published Monday morning, also puts “duplicative” programs on the chopping blocks – the Climate Change Research and Partnership Programs; the Indoor Air and Radon Programs; the Marine Pollution and National Estuary Programs, among others are targeted in the request.
Trump and Mulvaney believe nixing these programs will save taxpayers approximately $600 million compared to 2017 enacted levels. The budget cuts represent a substantial departure from former President Barack Obama’s final year.
EPA had more than 15,300 employees and a budget of more than $8.1 billion in 2016. About half of EPA staff work at regional offices across the country, even though more than 90 percent of EPA programs are administered by state agencies.”
Kavanaugh’s Accuser About To Cash In BIG TIME And Hasn’t Even Testified!
As the most reliable and balanced news aggregation service in the world, RWN offers the following information published by DownTrend
Christine Blasey Ford has made some serious allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh that she can neither back up or or is even willing to testify about. The democrats have used these unfounded unprovable allegations in a attempt to derail Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the high court, because they don’t have the votes to stop him. As if this story wasn’t already dumb enough, some rando has started a GoFundMe campaign and you just know liberals will pour money into this ridiculous thing.
Ford claims that Kavanaugh and a friend sexually assaulted her at a party in the 1980’s. She doesn’t know when this supposedly happened or where or how she even ended up at the party. They only witness to this alleged crime says it never happened and there are tons of inconsistencies with this vague story. She is also a registered democrat and liberal activist with a bone to pick with Kavanaugh’s family.
Ford was invited to testify before the the Senate Judiciary committee to tell her story, but she has declined. She also claims that she is now getting death threats and has had to go underground for the safety or her family.
That brings us to this silly GoFundMe campaign:
Due to death threats, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford (who uses “Dr. Blasey” professionally) and her family have had to leave their residence and arrange for private security. Let’s create a fund to cover her security expenses, to do just a bit to make it easier for women in her position to come forward despite great risks. If we raise more than Dr. Blasey needs, extra funds will go to women’s organizations and/or into an account to cover similar costs incurred in comparable situations.
The person who started this campaign doesn’t even know Ford, but felt the need to do something:
I do not know Dr. Blasey personally but will contact her via her former high school, Holton Arms, to inform her of this fundraising appeal and to make arrangements to transfer funds to Dr. Blasey.
I am a professor of law at Georgetown University who has raised money formally and informally for other causes over the years. My reason for starting this fundraiser is to make concrete the power of collective action in providing security, and therefore support, for Dr. Blasey’s willingness to contribute to a thorough, fair vetting of a nominee for Supreme Court Justice.
Fair vetting? Ford made an outrageous accusation on the eve of Kavanaugh’s confirmation vote and then refused to testify on these things she can’t provide any evidence of. That’s completely unfair and any law professor could attest to that.
Oh wait, it turns out the person who started this bullshit GoFundMe campaign really is a law professor at Georgetown Law. Here’s her bio on Women’s Media Center:
Heidi Li Feldman is Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center, with a courtesy appointment in the Philosophy Department at Georgetown University. She has written major articles on tort law and on legal ethics. Her scholarly expertise includes the U.S. civil justice system more generally. Currently, Dr. Feldman’s scholarship focuses on how and whether U.S. cities and states can protect civil rights and strengthen civil society. Read More
Obama Just Received Terrible News About His Presidential Library – Trump Gets Last Laugh!
A former president who has had never run anything or had a real job in his life until he became president can’t be expected to be able to coordinate a presidential library. And that’s exactly what happened in the case of former President Barack Hussein Obama.
Chicks On The Right has reported on multiple occasions that the building for the Obama Presidential Library has been snared with issues from the start. And the newest issue will make you livid.
Here is more via The Daily Wire:
“The Chicago Park District has put a halt to preparations being made for the Obama Presidential Library until after a federal court reviews a lawsuit filed by Chicago residents, and federal agencies assess the transfer of historic public land to a private entity.
“But in the meantime, permits and agreements filed by Chicago city officials, and with the Chicago Department of Transportation, reveal a sweetheart rent deal that any Chicago renter (or landlord) would certainly envy: the Obama Foundation will pay a mere $10 for a 99-year lease on what is supposed to be a public park.
“The Chicago Park District had begun felling trees on land destined to become part of the Obama Library complex, but those preparations ground to a halt Monday after the Chicago Department of Transportation refused to grant a permit that would have allowed the Park District to move utility lines running through the site. CDOT delayed a decision on the matter until after the federal lawsuit and federal assessments have been resolved.
“Hearings on the lawsuit, which claims the Obama Library received unprecedented and potentially illegal assistance from the state of Illinois and the city of Chicago, start Thursday. Plaintiffs claim that the Library is being granted part of historic Jackson Park — a huge public green space designed by Frederick Olmsted (the same man who designed New York City’s Central Park) and dedicated for the people of Chicago’s recreational use. They also say that plans to move two major arteries that currently run across Jackson Park will harm economic growth and isolate residents of Chicago’s south side.
“Construction also halted on a new athletic field — a project the city claims has no connection to the Obama Library complex. The Chicago Sun-Times reports the city might have misled residents: the Obama Foundation appears to have granted more than $2 million to the city for the new athletic field because the old one will need to be demolished to make room for Obama’s massive complex.
“The permitting and construction process became even stranger on Wednesday, when the Sun-Times reported that the City Council was working on a bill that would grant the Obama Library a century-long lease on what is, essentially, public land, for a mere $10, even though the Foundation can afford much more — and Chicago is desperately in need of the money.
“One of the ordinances includes the agreements between the foundation and the city, which includes the foundation paying the city $10 for the 99-year pact; the other ordinance clears the legal way to plow under Cornell Drive from 59th Street to Hayes Drive to be reconfigured as green space on the Obama campus,” the Sun-Times says. That’s down from the $1-per-year rental fee proposed earlier in the process.
“In return, the Obama Foundation must pledge to cover the $350 million in expected construction costs for the Library, protecting Chicago taxpayers (the Foundation has already received nearly $220 million in construction grants from the State of Illinois).
“One of the Library’s top critics called the deal infuriating.
“The idea of leasing invaluable, irreplaceable public parkland to a private entity for $10 for 99 years is astounding in this era when public lands and natural resources are under attack in so many places,” the head of Jackson Park Watch told local media. “Besides, Chicago’s finances are extremely precarious. Yes, this is symbolic, but symbolism is significant.”
“Other Chicago museums are located on public property, but those museums have agreements with the city of Chicago in perpetuity.
“The City Council is expected to read and vote on the rental agreement Thursday.”
$10 for a 99-year lease? Where can us common folk get a hold of an awesome deal like this?
This hasn’t been the first big issue the library construction has had. A couple of months back a federal judge let groups, who were suing the Obama Foundation over its plans for a presidential center on Chicago’s South Side, actually begin demanding information from the city of Chicago to determine how the site was selected for the project instead of other private properties which had been declined previously.
In that hearing, the District Court Judge John Robert Blakey agreed to let the plaintiffs proceed. This is being led by Protect Our Parks who want to obtain information from the city of Chicago and Obama officials on how it selected the site. The Barack Obama Presidential Center is being proposed on federal land that was deemed by the government in 2012 to be inappropriate for construction.
Is anything out of Chicago which concerns Barack Hussein Obama not questionable in nature? No other president in recent memory has had so many issues constructing their respective libraries. Maybe that’s because those libraries aren’t of questionable origin representing an individual of questionable origin and character.
Whatever the reason, let’s all be glad the Obama nightmare is over and instead of messing up the country, he is now busy messing up his own library plans.
